Childbirth Doula Services
Nicci Walla
of Lincoln, NE 402-421-6949                                              Bradley Method of Natural

This is Husband Coached Childbirth . . . because all of my coaches have received special Bradley Method training… I do offer my doula services for the main purpose of backing up dad and helping dad to keep up with his own endurance and strength while he continuously helps the laboring mother.   I offer him advice and time contractions in your Bradley method workbook resulting in a detailed account of several hours of your labor that you can refer back to later.  I am usually called by middle to late first stage to help determine when to go to the hospital and also to assist you in making the transition to the hospital as smoothly as possible.  Upon arriving at the hospital, staying comfortable is the key, and I will always assist you in making the right decisions allowing you to continue to follow along the right path and carry out your birth plan as close as possible.  I am also available to help you video tape or take pictures of your birth.

It is very important to me that you feel comfortable with the plans for your birth and I encourage you to be honest with yourself at all times as to who you invite to your birth.  Always look to your heart and if at any time you change your mind about my services you simply let me know and I will always be fine with this.  I want nothing more than for you to have exactly what you have always hoped for during this time.  Even if you change your mind about using my services; I still expect coaches to call for advice or phone support at any time as most Bradley dads do *wink*

To avoid conflicts with my doula services I do not like to schedule a birth within 2 weeks on either side of my family vacation or within 1 week on either side of the due date of another mom who requests my services.

I am available for phone support (always free of charge) until things are moving along nicely.  I will then arrive as your doula within 1 hour of your official “we need you” call.  We will all determine ahead of time during one of our pre planning sessions as to what your thoughts and feelings are about the individual support you will want.

Once I am onsite at your residence I am 100% catering to your specific needs until 1-2 hours postpartum  as this is the crucial sensitive bonding period; encouraging a new baby to latch on for as long as possible immediately following it’s birth will directly relate to breastfeeding success.
FEES:I require an initial doula fee of $50.00 (refundable until after I have done all of your pre-planning sessions) this fee also officially secures your place on my calendar.  This fee covers 2-4 hours of review labor sessions in your home before your birth.  These pre-planning sessions are very important for me to become familiar with your home and the location of needed items during labor.  We will go over an informal doula contract, we will go over your phone lists, your labor snacks, labor position review, and practice in each room of the house that you might use to labor.  It is my firm belief that the more items we can think about, plan for, and even rehearse ahead of time; the more likely things are to go smoothly.

The charge for “in labor” doula services is… $25/h for the first 4 hours and $10/h for every hour after.  The charge for “in labor” doula services begins the moment I leave my home and end the moment I arrive home from your birth.  I will bill you for my services within 1 week of attending your birth due to be paid within 30 days of your birth.  Sometimes labor will stop and start for several days or even weeks at a time.  If I am coming and going I will always keep detailed records of the time I spend with you and will bill you accordingly.  I do not mind pre-labor sessions that start and stop.  These are normal labor patterns and result in excellent practice sessions for everyone and should not discourage moms and dads in any way.

The reason my doula fee is an hourly fee is because my husband works full time beginning in the very early morning and my home daycare runs 10 hours a day so I usually make very little as a doula after I pay for hourly care of my children and hourly backup for my daycare during the day.  I take much more away from each birth than anything monetary and that is perfectly fine with me!  I do this because it is my passion not my career.

I am also available to you as a postpartum doula as needed for breastfeeding support, baby blues, newborn care, or even running errands for $10/hour.  Or you can call me anytime with questions as my advice is always free of charge!

All in all, I love helping parents optimize their birth experience and create a better outcome for both mother and baby.

Feel free to email, write, or call me anytime.

Sincerely,
Nicci Walla
